I have 2 car insurance policies with AAMI. They wont let me choose my own Crash Repairer. The Crash Repairers they choose have 1 star google reviews.
IE Capital Smart Holden Hill and Findon Crash Repair.
Within 1 year they have quite a few 1 star reviews.
AAMI = appalling service. I'm quite disgusted in their service and policies. You should be able to choose yoru own crash repairer. Sounds like they get cheap deals from alleged "approved" crash repairers and do a cheap job to save money !

29 Aug 2024Never, under any circumstances, should you consider insuring your car with AAMI. Their repair services are shockingly subpar, relying on cheap and unreliable repair shops. They deliberately set completion dates far into the future, seemingly to evade any questions or concerns you might have. You could be left waiting for up to four months for even the most minor of damages to be fixed. The way they treat their customers is nothing short of outrageous—they act as though you owe them, rather than the other way around.

5 days agoCalled AAMI house contents insurance at 3:00am. My son’s house had just been badly burned in a fire. He was in hospital on oxygen and the house needs to be inspected and secured.
AAMI took down the details but refused to arrange an assessor or deal with me because I wasn’t the primary policy holder.
HELLO …. The primary policy holder was in hospital on OXYGEN. Seriously what is the problem with AAMI

Updated 2 days agoAAMI has been handling my claim from the Easter weekend storms 2024. Initially they started proactively. First 3 weeks they made my bedroom safe from mould developing from the water seeping in my ceiling from a tile blown askew.
Every day since has been a struggle , the parent company AAI had shown the same lack of concern, and I’m now going to have a solicitor take them on due to works not honoured and my huge stress levels of sleeping with my adult child for 4 months now. There is a hole on my bedroom ceiling right on top of where I sleep.
Stressing 5 policies with AAMI , 3 have just come up for renewal and I have 3 new policies with another.

21 Aug 2024I called AAMI on 20 August to take out a new home content policy and to cancel our old one from a date in the future. Annette answered my call and actioned all of my changes (including change of address for our vehicles). This was done expeditiously and in a very professional and friendly manner.
The following day I called again to change the cancellation date by a few days and, once again, this was done quickly and professionally. This time it was Debbie who answered the call.

5 days agoAAMI CTP they don't even deserve one star the staff don't understand about rehabilitation, the staff don't know how to make decisions, and they don't want you to get better. They can't even manage the claim properly. With my claim because I gave them constant reminders of what I thought of them and the pathetic way of handling Claims I often said to them why did they give your license for this type of insurance. You have only ever managed vehicle claims, these are not motor vehicle claims, you are managing peoples lives recommendations, the Specialists Made recommendations and AAMI refused things are needed which were recommended and highly suggested by the specialists. I had not worked Some three years because of this accident because I had injuries all over my body, and I can't walk properly still the staff have no idea how to manage Claims, the manager that rang me had no idea either. This is the worst insurance company in Australia. By the way, I was hit by a granny whilst I was parked on the side of the road, the granny was looking in the rear at her grandchild and dog in the backseat it cannot get any more shampoo than this. They even refused to allow me to get basic treatment From a physiotherapist. My doctors have told me I will not work again. I tried to work in a brand-new job just after the accident because I already got that job, and from day one I had so much pain I was falling asleep, this continued until day three when I took myself to hospital, I was off for a month, and when I went back to the job I lost it because I couldn't cope. 3 1/2 years later I still can't work him still in pain 24 hours, seven days a week. I worked in Insurance for 16 years and I handled all classes of insurance including liability and injury and you do not treat someone like this insurance company in Australia. It is second only FAI Insurance, Which was deregulated by the Insurance commissioner In the 1980s. However, the big differences Is, FAI used to actually pay INJURY CLAIMS.
I can't understand how people working in these positions can't apply empathy to what they do. You can bet when they got their jobs, in the interview they were asked explain about empathy, That's Got to be a Standing joke in itself.

17 Aug 2024Very very pleasantly surprised! I am so grateful for the manner my car accident claim was managed. My claim was treated proffessionally, with respect, and in a reasonable time frame. I never had any trouble contacting and was always spoken to kindly. Thank you to all at aami invloved.

15 Aug 2024I gave AAMI one star because I can’t register a negative number. In the past I found AAMI to be a worthy insurance company but unfortunately recently the tied has turned. I had a fluid leak in my house of which it was unknown until visible and AAMI rejected my claim on the grounds I should have known.

19 Aug 2024After an uninsured driver hit my car, I claimed under my policy with AAMI. After inspecting the damage, the repair centre contacted me to advise that repair cost would exceed the maximum allowance in my policy and that AAMI recommend a write off with $6,200 payout. After emptying the car, I called AAMI for next steps. I’d been on hold for 2 hours when AAMI answered and confirmed next steps and payout of $6,200.
Weeks passed with no contact. I called and waited another 2 hours for AAMI to answer. On this call the agent advised a payout of $5,000. I complained and asked why the payout had decreased. A manager investigated and confirmed that AAMI had misread my policy when they quoted $6,200.
At this point my car had already been written off and registration cancelled but AAMI refused to honour $6,200. My complaint was escalated to Suncorp (parent company) who paid $1,000 compensation in light of the poor customer experience.
In the end, it took over 6 months to receive the payouts. Including the compensation, I was paid $6,000 of the $6,200 quoted by AAMI. A time consuming and deeply frustrating experience – I will avoid AAMI at all costs when purchasing future insurance.

14 Aug 2024Useless and frustrating to deal with. Please bring your customer service back to Australia. Wanted to check on 2 company policies but "customer service" person I was speaking to could hardly speak English and sounded like he was halfway around the world. Refused to do anything unless I gave him by date of birth. How ridiculous given we are a large company. All I wanted to do was check one policy had been paid and the other that the renewal had been sent. Heard bad things about AAMI and this just backs it up. Wouldn't want to try and make a claim!

8 Aug 2024Company sent me a bill in error. I paid it, then later found out the bill was sent incorrectly. When I asked for a refund, they refused despite it being illegal to do so. I had to initiate a transaction reversal. Truly disgusting and illegal behaviour on this company's part, avoid at all costs.

13 Aug 2024Rubbish
I was paying land lord insurance for 8 years and when I got damage in my unit AAMI did not want pay,
Once they heard I have an accent they start to make different law to suit them not to pay.
If you immigrant or even Aussie don’t use them.
They will be cold and you will be the one jumping angry.
In end they said do you want cancel your policy cover?
I said what cover??
They only can cover there ar se , that’s all.
Don’t use them

6 Aug 2024After 15 years of loyally paying your premiums, enough is enough. Last year you increased my house and contents premium by 100% (from $3000.00 to $6000.00), and this year it was increased 63% to $9500.00. Each time I rang to request an explanation as to why the outrageous price hike, your response was, "we can't tell you that". What an appauling response to a fair question. None of my circumstances have changed (building or contents), and I have NEVER made a claim. For those of you reading this, I hope it is a warning as to how AAMI treats their customers. The good news is, there are many far better insurers out there that will look after you, so give AAMI a wide berth.

Updated 29 Aug 2024Most useless company going around had a accident on the 13/1/24 only to have a 6 month wait to get it back with damaged still from accident as well as damaged done by the panel shop that AAMI made me take it to. Sent away away again on 5/7/24 and still haven’t got it back. 29/8/24 and still going. . F$$K AAMI.

8 Aug 2024The car was in perfect working condition prior to the accident. I was rear ended by a commercial vechicle. My car has been comprehensively insured by AAMI for the entire life of the vehicle. The car has a full service history with regular servicing. Like many cars that are 12 years old, it did had a minor oil leak and had items like coils and other parts changed only 12 months ago.
This is pretty simple:
Car was driving perfectly
Accident occurred
Now the engine does not function
AAMI organised the 3rd party who hit my vehicle to pay for the repairs, but have refused to fix the engine claiming that the engine had pre-existing wear and tear (as any 12 yo car would). It’s abundantly clear that the impact has caused some parts to fail completely, as now the car simply doesn’t drive. It's top speed driving home from the repair shop was 20-30kms in limp mode.
AAMI have asked how can I prove the car was driving fine prior to the accident? Well, how was I on the road to have the accident in the first place? #unlucklyyourewithaami

12 July 2024I’ve been with AAMI for over 20 years and cannot believe how poorly they treat their customers. Similar experience as Maddie, car was considered a write off despite it only needing 4 tyres. Car left at a tow yard for a month before I called to see what was happening. No answers when you call after waiting over an hour an half, just get fobbed off. Claim lodged 04/04, 4 tyres was all it needed (they were slashed while at a train station). Still no resolution.

2 Aug 2024Worst customer experience in my life. Repairs on my vehicle were terrible which included, poor paint quality, panel gaps not aligned, old damaged parts re-used, wheel alignment out, aftermarket bolts used to hold my front bumper bar to the guards. Mind you this has all happened after I refused to accept the car the first time from the repairer due to other issues. What made matter worse is I lost 8hrs of my life over a period of a week waiting to speak to a customer service representative based some country that I struggled to understand. It's unreal when you take out the insurance your call is answered asap & speak with a representative from Australia & take your money. Didn't waste any time & escalated the matter to AFCA & AAMI called me straight away to resolve the issue. They sent out one of their assessors to view the vehicle & gave me some BS story. I shut him down & asked him the question "would you buy this car with the quality of these repairs"? to which he replied "no". They now require to start all the repairs again by a different repairer, provide me with a hire car & pay me $1,000 in compensation for wasting my time. The repair cost now will exceed the value of what the car is insured for. I'm keen to see how the repairs will turn out this time otherwise it's back to AFCA.

21 June 2024We are paying for 3 car insurances and 2 house insurances to AAMI and one of our car met an accident 7 weeks ago. We have been trying to contact them every single day, after holding phone call for more than an hour, we are unable to connect with any consultant.
They haven’t updated us for our car settlement progress. We are really disappointed and frustrated with AAMI’s services.
Hopefully our issue will be taken seriously and get resolved soon as it’s being hard for our family.

how is anyone supposed to stomach that?

Updated 10 July 2024I wish I could put a 0 star review
ABSOLUTELY the worst customer service I have ever experienced
Vehicle was taken to an auction yard without permission and without being assessed. Also was not advised it was going to an auction yard and written down as a total loss without assessment (was also not advised of this) Told 3 different reasons as to why it was taken to an auction yard. More damages done to the car due to being at an auction yard as well as loss of registration plates.
Phone calls ignored for days on end
Laughed at and hung up on when staff members can’t answer questions.
DO NOT EVER USE AAMI.
Only there for the money and do not wish to help in anyway
